Digging the Past: Historical Concepts in the Ancient World and Beyond

Students in History 6 study key historical concepts through the context of early world history. We spend much of the year developing an understanding of core concepts such as cultural universals and the struggle for power, while giving considerable attention to subsets like belief systems, social division, and trade.

Specific content includes ancient civilizations, early Islamic civilization, and the Middle Ages. Current events will be frequently woven into the curriculum where applicable.  In addition to fostering core skills in areas such as geography and writing, students can also expect ‘hands-on’ activities and projects to help strengthen their understanding of history and the world today.
